FAQ

  • What does 'for Women' mean?

In our experience, most spaces are created for men. Our aim with naming the business ‘for Women’ is to create a space that defies that default. We center the experience of women, nonbinary, trans, queer, and BIPOC folks.

You do not have to identify as a woman to participate in our workshops, or to be an instructor. You simply have to abide by the bolded statement above.

  • Where are S.A.W. workshops held?

Workshops vary in location. We usually partner with a local business such as a brewery that has ample parking, garage doors, and is not busy on Saturday days. If you would like to host us, email skillsacademyforwomen@gmail.com

the future, we would love to have a permanent home. Hit us up if you have real estate ideas. : )

  • Who teaches the workshops?

We pull from a variety of local talent to ensure you are being taught by folks who are knowledgable, often have industry experience, and represent a variety of identities and lived experiences.

  • What about food and drink?

We try to pick venues that are near to restaurants or food trucks so that you have the option to go out to eat when the workshop ends.

During the workshop, we usually provide small snacks, and aim to have gluten free and vegan options.

    Bring a water bottle.

  • How can I get involved?

S.A.W. is a business, but it is also a community-driven initiative. We can always use more hands, more skills, more passion, and more resources.
